Castello Guglielmi has an internal area of nearly 60,000 sq f and sits on nearly 10 acres of gardens on the shores of Lake Trasimeno; the approved plan aims at creating a luxury resort with 75 bedrooms in total, in addition to spas, restaurants and various great halls. State grants (30%) have been promised for the restoration.
The castle was put up for auction in 2014 at a starting price of 7.6 million Euros (5.5 million £), but it was not sold; the next auction is scheduled to be in a couple of months. The selling price in 2010, before it was seized, was 16 million Euro.
The next auction will be on March 4th 2016 with a starting bid of 5.79 million Euros.
